Live the Impossible Dream, 7 KEEs for Making Your Dreams Come True

Posted by karenervin in Untagged

Don’t Dream the Impossible Dream-Live the Impossible Dream. Dreaming is about achieving your goals. If you can think it and dream it, you can live it. The difference between you and a person who is living their dream is that person set goals, believed in their ability, knew what they wanted, and never gave up. Below are 7 of the 9 kees (adapted from the soon to be released book Live the Impossible Dream) that will help you make your dreams come true. KEE # 1 Develop Your Potential To live the impossible dream, you must focus on your money making talents and your goals. You want to develop your talents so that you can use these talents to make money. The best way to make money is to earn it by selling a product or service. The trick is not to focus on the money. Focus on the product or service you will offer. Focus on how you will help your clients. KEE # 2 Resist Temporary Satisfaction Never settle for temporary satisfaction. You should always have the belief and the determination that you can get what you want no matter how long you have to wait. The reason that people settle for temporary satisfaction is because they are not willing to sacrifice and wait on the right situation. The first step to getting what you want is to know exactly what you want. If you know exactly what you want, you will be able to avoid situations that are disguised as opportunity. KEE # 3 Manage Your Fears You will never reach your goals if you are paralyzed by fear. Fear of failure is atychiphobia. This fear makes people believe that dreams and goals can’t be achieved. Dreams can be overwhelming if you look at the big picture. However, taking smaller steps and looking at the smaller picture is not so overwhelming. Transform your fear of failure into positive thoughts. In stead of asking yourself what if I fail? Try asking yourself what if I succeed? Talk yourself into your dreams instead of talking yourself out of your dreams. KEE # 4 Embrace Life’s Challenges You can live your dreams if you can overcome obstacles. Everyone will experience obstacles at some point in their lives. You are either facing an obstacle, will face an obstacle, or you have recently over come an obstacle. However, keep in mind that there will always be someone who has a worse obstacle to over come than yours. Turn obstacles into opportunities. Many businesses have been started by people who found solutions to obstacles. KEE # 5 Nurture Your Network It is important to build and nurture your network if you plan to live your impossible dream. No one can live the impossible dream without the help of others. As much as you want to take sole credit for your success, you will not get to where you need to be without the help of other people. To build your network, you should surround yourself with positive people. Find people who share your goals and who are genuinely interested in helping you. However, you can’t expect to get something for nothing. You have to nurture your network by establishing a give and take relationship with people in your network. KEE # 6 Recharge Your Entrepreneurial Energy An entrepreneurial spirit is needed to make your dreams come true. Some people are born with it while others have to find it. To recharge your spiritual energy, you can read motivational books, attend motivational seminars, and listen to positive music. KEE # 7 Train Your Brain If you can not master yourself, then you will never be able to master anyone or anything. To master yourself, you have to train your brain. Your brain can be trained by eating the right food, exercising your motor skills and by practicing positive self talk. The only reason you are not living the impossible dream is because you are not using your full brain potential. Beyond resume writing: 5 KEEs to help Employers Better Assist Outsourced Employees

Beyond resume writing: 5 KEEs to help Employers Better Assist Outsourced Employees Laying off employees is never easy, but there are ways that HR departments can help employees beyond just providing resume services. In such a highly competitive job market, having a good resume is just not enough anymore. Therefore, providing laid-off employees with an additional career option such as entrepreneurship is an added bonus. Often workers have talents that are suited for entrepreneurship, but they never had the time or opportunity to explore these options. With a career change ahead and a possible severance package, now might be one of the most opportune times for outsourced employees to start a business. However, transitioning employees should know the options that are available. Below are five ways you can help your employees successfully launch the next phase of their career. 1. Help employees identify their entrepreneurial talents Everyone has talents, whether they are obvious or hidden, ordinary or extraordinary, but very few step back to evaluate the economic viability of those talents. In order to determine if entrepreneurship is a good fit, employees must understand the traits of successful entrepreneurs, learn what it takes to build a successful business, and be introduced to the realities of business ownership. In addition, employees also need to look inward to conduct an overall entrepreneurial self-assessment that will help them discover which talents can be turned into business ventures, measure their capacity for risk, and examine their skill set to see if they are suited to be an entrepreneur. 2. Help employees learn how to write a business plan Once a laid-off worker has discovered his or her talents and how to use them in entrepreneurship, he or she will need to write a business plan to attract investors or qualify for a loan. A well-written, logical, detailed business plan is key to not only obtaining funding, but also to establishing a foundation that is built on more than vague dreams and passion. Employees need to understand the sections that should be included in a business plan, the information required for each section, and the general format for a business plan. In addition, participants should also receive coaching to evaluate the viability of a business plan. By offering a class on business plan writing, HR managers empower their transitioning employees to take charge and create a well thought out action plan. 3. Help employees find sources of funding Ultimately, it is the employees’ responsibility to find funding for their business, but you can help point them in the right direction by providing valuable resources that will help them get started. Loans may be more difficult to obtain than they were several years ago, but there are still opportunities available for people who want to start a business. 4. Help employees create a source of income Laid-off employees may not know the entrepreneurship options that are available. However, providing a detailed overview of options can often spark an idea. You can help employees by introducing them to e-commerce, franchising, consulting, and start-up options. Include options with low start-up costs and minimal overhead such as home business and online opportunities. 5. Help employees avoid common pitfalls Starting a business, especially during a recession, can be a high-risk move. Prepare your employees to avoid common pitfalls that often derail businesses by sharing the successes and failures of other ventures. Teach them best practices and solid business principles that will increase their chances of success. Consider inviting entrepreneurs and franchisees to speak to your employees and answer questions. Help your employees to connect with other resources and mentors for ongoing support. Join me for our summer poolside workshops. With our job markets slowly beginning to pick up pace, we need to divert our energies away from the job search on occasion to refuel and recharge. Perhaps reconnect with some of your closer ex co-workers, or old friends and relatives you have not seen for quite some time. Give yourself the gift of a well-deserved break.
